September 25, 2023 – Mocha Company, the project proponent, and a leading company in sustainable solutions, hosted the first Local Stakeholder Consultation (LSC) on September 20, 2023, at GS Tower in Gangnam, Seoul. The event centered around their groundbreaking initiative, the “Issuance of Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) through EV Charging Activities” known as the “HIVE EV Charging Project”, currently listed in Verra’s VCS Program Registry, Project ID: 4426.

Attended by over 20 participants (EV owners and Charge Point Operators), the LSC provided a platform to introduce emission reduction strategies leveraging EV charging infrastructure. Discussions also covered intricacies of VCU issuance and monitoring of emission reduction performance, engaging participants in a dynamic Q&A session.

“The HIVE EV Charging Project signifies a new milestone in our commitment to combatting climate change and promoting sustainability,” stated Tony Cho, Vice President at Mocha Company. “By harnessing the potential of EV charging systems, we are pioneering a new frontier in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) market.”

The consultation underscored the importance of domestic CPOs involvement in addressing the global demand for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and achieving carbon neutrality amidst the climate change crisis. Participants gained valuable insights into the VCM market, recognizing its pivotal role in driving environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

Mocha Company’s proactive approach extends beyond project implementation, as they recently listed the HIVE project within Verra, the world’s leading VCU issuing NGO based in Washington D.C. The registration as a grouped project marks a significant step towards accelerating EV infrastructure investment and expanding the reach of emission reduction efforts within the domestic market.

“We are committed to fostering collaboration and engagement across all sectors as we continue to advance our sustainability agenda,” added Peter Ha, CEO at Mocha Company. “We invite broader participation and feedback from stakeholders, institutions, and EV owners as we embark on this climate-tech journey.”
